Event Description

Have you thought about tracing your family's history but don't know where to begin? Duane Roen will share some readily-available resources, tools, and strategies for getting started with researching your roots. This workshop is designed for those who have little to no experince in researching family history.

The word curveball is a trigger for Duane. When he played baseball in high school, he could handle fastballs with confidence. Curveballs, on the other hand, were challenges, so he always hoped that the opposing pitcher didn’t throw any. Of course, those hopes were dashed at times, and panic set in. Panic didn’t help. Let’s not go there. Instead, let’s focus on lemons because we have a choice when lemons come our way—unlike those cursed curveballs that Duane couldn’t handle. Who was the sadist who invented that dastardly pitch? Mommy, make the bad person stop throwing curveballs. But I digress. When we encounter lemons, there are ways to deal with them—some more effective than others. In this workshop, we’ll discuss our experience with metaphorical lemons.
